A mug shot of Malaysian-born Zulkifli bin Abdul Hir, alias Marwan
While officials have said Bali bombing suspect Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan was “likely killed” in a deadly Philippines operation, the secessionist political organization Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) says the Malaysian bomb maker was not even there.
In an interview with radio DZMM, MNLF spokesman Emmanuel Fontanilla said that Marwan was not in Mamasapano, the scene of the deadly clash between police and Islamist militants that resulted in the death of over 40 commandos and eight militants, reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
Fontanilla also said the MNLF was not asked by Philippine government security forces on the whereabouts of Marwan.
Marwan is one of the most wanted terrorists in the Philippines and is said to be a member of the al Qaeda linked group Jemaah Islamiah. The US government has a USD5 million bounty on his head.
