A 64-year-old Balinese woman who was missing for two days has been found safe and sound (albeit severely exhausted and famished), authorities confirmed.

The elderly woman, Ni Wayan Linyar, reportedly went missing in Yehembang Kangin Village, Jembrana after going out looking for firewood on Friday. When Linyar did not return home in the afternoon, her family went into a cabin where she would store the firewood, but she was not there.

Linyar’s family filed a report to the Mendoyo Police on Saturday when Linyar still hadn’t turned up.

The police, village authorities, and villagers went searching for Linyar in several locations within four kilometers from her house. She was finally found on Saturday evening in a garden that belonged to a resident of a neighboring village.

Linyar looked fatigued upon being found and the police suggested she might have not eaten anything for two days.

“[Linyar] is already old and senile. She went too far from home while looking for firewood and forgot her way home,” Mendoyo Police Chief I Putu Suarmadi said.

Linyar was immediately brought back to her house with several men carrying her.
