Military sweeps Bali’s remote spaces, scanning for terrorist training camps

The Indonesian military says it is sweeping remote spaces in Bali province that it has deemed as vulnerable to being used as terrorist training camps.

Whoa there, were we even supposed to be worried about training camps being set up in Bali? Thanks for the heads up, guys.

Thankfully Military Commander I Nyoman Cantiasa said on Wednesday that the island’s hills and forests are clean (so far) after the army “sterilized” them.

“We just finished a trail, the path from Pulaki to Jembrana. It’s still undeveloped forest there, there’s been no sign of humans or any exercise,” he added, as quoted by Bisnis.com

With all its uninhabited space, West Bali National Park is another area the military has been focused on, according to Cantiasa.

This push to tighten up Bali comes after spots in Temanggung and Malang, East Java were identified as suspected terrorist training camps, Cantiasa explained.
