Mengwi junk yard goes up in flames

A fire reportedly broke out at a junk yard in Mengwi, Badung Monday afternoon, resulting in estimated losses of Rp 500 million for the owner.

Senyum Misaji, 53, a Jember native, told Tribun Bali on Tuesday morning that everything in the four acre warehouse was gone after the fire.

Misaji told the newspaper that at the time of the fire he was in his hometown and his borther, Misrai, 48, had been taking care of the 1.5 year old warehouse.

He said the fire may have resulted from a television being left on.

The fire was apparently too out of control and the contents of the junk yard were beyond saving by the time help came to extinguish the flames.
