A 40-year-old man in Denpasar was found dead after he reportedly drank gasoline, with authorities suspecting that he suffered from depression.
“According to authorities who are on duty in that village, the victim has been experiencing stress,” Denpasar City Police spokesman I Ketut Sukadi said today.
However, police say they will still conduct an investigation into the man’s death, who has been identified as INK.
INK was found unconscious in his room yesterday evening, with the smell of gasoline reportedly coming from his body. Authorities then took him to the local hospital for emergency assistance, but he was declared dead not long after.
Indonesia currently does not have a dedicated government-run suicide prevention hotline, but if you or anyone you know is suffering from depression and/or contemplating suicide, you can get more information and resources from several local NGOs dealing with mental health and suicide prevention, such as intothelightid.org.
