A Malaysian national arrested in Bali last week on Jan. 20 apparently had plans to deal the drugs he was caught smuggling into the country in coffee packets.
He had originally claimed the 25 grams of meth was just for personal use, police told the press earlier this week (there was also 0.99 grams of marijuana found on him).
But now Tribun Bali is reporting that Ayung, alias Lee Kok King, had plans to sell the meth in Bali for about MYR10,000 (IDR 320,000) per gram. Giving us some insight into his “business plan,” the man from Johor also reportedly said that each packet of coffee and honey cost him MYR 5 (IDR 16,000).
King admitted that he was able to get away with bringing the drugs out of Malaysia since he had an “unscrupulous connection” in the KL airport.
“Yeah, I slipped through the Malaysian airport,” after using a Malaysian Airlines flight, King revealed.
But he didn’t have the same help in Bali.
King was arrested along with a female friend in the lobby of Amaris Hotel on Jl. Teuku Umar, Denpasar.
Bali Police Investigator Joni Lay explained that King was not arrested at the airport when Customs noticed something suspicious in his bag, because they wanted to try and further track the Malaysian’s network. However, King only unwittingly led them to his hotel in Denpasar, so they just arrested him there.
A urine test showed King positive for meth, while his female friend who insisted she knew nothing of the drugs tested negative for meth.
The female friend has since been released from police custody.
