In preparation for Lebaran, the holiday marking the end of Ramadan when Muslim families mudik (return to their hometowns), maintenance is being scheduled for Gilimanuk.
Gilimanuk Harbor is Bali’s main crossing point to Java and you can expect a massive flow of people to pass through this July for the holiday.
Taking priority will be strengthening the loading dock and repairing roads with holes around landing craft, according to the Gilimanuk Crossing Manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Pesero), Sugeng Purwono.
“We are still submitting a proposal to HQ to repair the ports,” Purwono told Tribun Bali on Tuesday.
He added that repairs should begin at the end of May or early June.
