Made for TV: Alleged drug smuggling Kiwi’s story to be documentary

The story of a Kiwi who allegedly brought 1.7 kilograms of meth into Bali in his backpack is about to be immortalized on TV.

Antony de Malmanche was detained by Indonesian authorities in Bali in December when he touched down at Ngurah Rai Airport, but the Kiwi’s legal team maintains his innocence and claims the drugs were planted on him.

Now already close to $200,000 has been committed to the documentary project that will tell de Malmanche’s story, reports the New Zealand Herald

If de Malmanche is found guilty of drug trafficking, he could get the maximum penalty for his alleged crime: death

The one-hour documentary Til Death Do Us Part will reportedly screen on New Zealand’s TV3 and will be made by James Bellamy.

Bellamy is reportedly now in Hong Kong retracing de Malmanche’s steps before his arrest. It was in Hong Kong where de Malmanche says he was supposed to meet “Jessie,” the woman he had been dating online, but instead when arrived, a man claiming to be her assistant was waiting for him with a package (aka the drugs) to deliver to her.
