‘Lost’ kiwi found in Thailand, on ‘time out’

A New Zealander who sent family and friends into a panic when he suddenly disappeared after a holiday in Bali with his Tinder date, has been found. In Thailand. Chilling out.

Apparently Kiwi Josh Goudswaard, 32, was taking “time out” because of financial pressures in Oz, where he was based, as a businessman in Perth.

Goudswaard had his loved ones fearing the worst, as they searched Australia, New Zealand, and Bali, tirelessly circulating missing person posters of the man, reported him missing to the police, immigration, and the consulate, and scoured Bali hospitals and jails.

The kiwi told friends he would be returning to Oz on Nov. 6, but never came back and apparently disconnected his phone, while it was just found out that he actually left Indonesia on Nov. 1

News finally broke on Thursday that he’s in Thailand and the reason Goudswaard was nowhere to be found was because he did not want to be found, his friends believe.

Aaron Smith, a friend of Goudswaard who was helping lead the social media campaign to find his buddy, now says he’s heard from friends that the “missing” kiwi was “running around learning to play his hang drum”.

“Turns out he’s made a couple of bad business decisions and with the current economic climate he has taken some time out,” Smith wrote, as quoted by the Australian

“A huge thankyou (sic) all for caring. You can be sure he’ll be getting a good kick in the arse.”

Good, because we can understand wanting to get away from it all, but next time, notify your family and friends so they don’t spark a multi-national search.

The Australian quoted another friend of Goudswaard as saying, ““He was running away from things. He wasn’t wanting to be found.”
