A spa therapist has been arrested by the Denpasar Police on suspicion of having molested a 15-year-old teenager from Australia.

Reports say that the suspect has been identified as Zamzami Aulani Malik AKA ZAM, 26, originally from Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

Denpasar Police Chief Bambang Yugo Pamungkas told reporters that the incident happened on May 31 at a spa on Werkudara Street in Legian.

The victim, identified by her initials SRC, went to the spa with her family. They reportedly arrived in Bali on May 23 for a vacation.

Each family member was treated by a different therapist, and ZAM was assigned to SRC.

“After the incident, the victim cried and immediately told her aunt about what happened,” Bambang said in a press conference yesterday.

Investigators were sent to the spa after SRC’s family filed a police report. Officers questioned five witnesses, collected evidence, and arrested ZAM on the very same day at his residence in Legian.

Under Indonesian law, ZAM may face up to 15 years behind bars for child molestation.

Bambang added that the victim returned to Australia two days after the police report was filed.
