Leatherback sea turtle smuggling operation foiled in North Bali waters

A total of 43 turtles were confiscated by Bali Water Police in the waters of Singaraja, North Bali.

The smuggled animals found on Wednesday evening were leatherback sea turtles from the island of Madura, according to Tribun Bali

Of the 43 turtles, about two reportedly died.

Fortunately there’s a happy ending for most of the turtles—they are slated for release on Kuta Beach this afternoon.
