Jina Youn, 41, a South Korean woman who was recently arrested for having caused damages at Pura Goa Raja in Besakih was reportedly returned home yesterday, according to an official. She did not have to go through the deportation process as the case was resolved amicably.

Singaraja Immigration Head Hendra Setiawan was quoted by detikBali as saying yesterday that he local village already found solutions for the incident via traditional means and Youn participated in a cleansing ritual that was organized by the temple.

As a result, the police did not turn the case to the immigration authorities. In other words, Youn was not deported, let alone blacklisted.

“So, the case was deemed resolved,” said Hendra, adding, “the foreigner will return to her country today [yesterday].”

As previously reported, the incident, captured in a viral video on social media, showed Youn damaging sacred artifacts like umbrellas, banners, and offerings within the temple premises.

The incident occurred on Aug. 7 at around 6pm. YN was apprehended the next day at her homestay in Besakih without any reported resistance.

Bali Public Order Agency Head Dewa Nyoman Rai Dharmadi told Tribunnews separately that he deemed that the temple’s management and local tour guides were at fault for not supervising people who come and go to the premise

“Constant vigilance from local guides is needed. This incident should be a learning experience,” he said.
