Bali’s eastern Klungkung regency is apparently resolved to uphold a regulation that bans tobacco advertising and makes the area cigarette free, or Kawasan Tanpa Rokok (KTR).
That’s a tall order if we’ve ever heard one, but we’re impressed at the small regency’s audacity and we hope this isn’t just talk for political capital.
“To enforce KTR, we will ban the advertising of cigarettes in the entrance to Klungkung,” regent I Nyoman Suwirta said on Thursday, as quoted by Tribun Bali.
Suwirta says he hopes the community can comply with these regulations, that were apparently set up a year ago.
But we’ll have to see how strict they are with the enforcement as it feels like everyone and their mom (or kid) is lighting up and smoking in Bali.
