A New Zealand man who was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend after a motorbike scrape was reportedly sentenced yesterday to five months in Bali jail.
Richard James Wackrow, 40, had been riding with Lisa Christina, his girlfriend at the time, when they fell off the motorbike in Jimbaran, Bali, on Sept. 4. Judge AA Ketut Anom Wirakanta said Wackrow slapped Christina and hit her with the motorbike helmet after the fall, reports the Jakarta Post.
Wackrow reportedly assaulted Christina for not staying balanced and ended up breaking her nose and injuring her cheek and eyes.
Christina and the prosecutor had apparently pushed for a seven-month jail sentence, but reports say they accepted the verdict.
