Alleged kidnapper of Bangli girl reportedly sent to psychiatric hospital for ‘observation’

Whilst the mystery of Angeline’s disappearance continues to linger, more details regarding the incident around the kidnapping of the Bangli girl continue to surface.

In its report, Tribun Bali did not specify the girl’s name, but the initials, LAS, were consistent with the name reported in VIVA yesterday as well as the details surrounding the kidnapping.

Tribun Bali’s report confirmed that the accused was indeed the son of a pejabat (high-ranking government official) based in Bangli. The accused, bearing the initials AAYD is 20 years old and was reportedly taken to a psychiatric hospital for “observation,” after Bangli police received information from the accused’s father that AAYD has been suffering from mental illness since middle school and has been on medication for it during the last two years, though on and off.

Tribun Bali also reported that this is not the first time the accused has attempted to kidnap and molest a girl. It was said that Bangli police received a visit yesterday from the mother of 12-year-old girl with the initial NKS, who was the victim of a similar incident. NKS’ mother allegedly told the police that the incident occurred on Tuesday May 19 while NKS was walking home from school. While walking, the accused asked NKS to get on his motorbike and NKS innocently complied, accounted Tribun Bali.

The accused then reportedly forced NKS to put her arm around his waist during the ride. NKS, who purportedly realized that the accused was a stranger, pretended to drop her pencil, before quickly jumping off the motorbike. The accused allegedly fled the scene as fast as he can.

According to Tribun Bali, Bangli police firmly stated that they needed to continue their investigation into the accused upon finding information from his parents that he has been suffering from mental illness, their next step ensuring that the accused undergo an “observation” by a psychiatrist for the next 14 days.
