Kerobokan Prison raid turns up drugs and weapons

A sweep of Bali’s notorious Kerobokan Prison on Wednesday night turned up some illicit goods hidden inside the prison. But luckily not that many.

The raid was a joint effort between Badung Police, North Kuta Police, military, the Bali office of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), and the Human Rights office.

While the raid was still in process last night, Lt Col Ardiansyah told Tribun Bali that some meth was found and that the two people in possession of it, along with the drugs, have been secured by the police.

He also said that weapons were found in the prison. But again, not that many.

“We found less than 10 sharp weapons. There were no guns,” he said.

Though the raid didn’t uncover that much, we’re sure that these findings still gave everyone flashbacks to the violent clash that erupted from inside the prison back in December that had revealed inmates were sitting on scores of weapons like machetes and spears.

Hopefully they’re doing a better job of keeping Kerobokan secure now!
