Kerobokan Prison fight sends one inmate to hospital

A fight reportedly broke out between inmates at Kerobokan Prison on Sunday, sending one inmate to the hospital with injuries. 

Kerobokan Prison’s governor, Sudjonggo, says that a fight went down between prisoners when a misunderstanding escalated into a challenge, reports Tribun Bali

Narcotics prisoner I Komang Adibawa, 42, was rushed to Denpasar’s Sanglah Hospital on Sunday night at 7 pm with visible bleeding on his leg and head, according to Tribun Bali. 

A medical officer at Sanglah told Tribun Bali that though Adibawa suffered opened wounds on his head and thighs, his condition was stable. 

The prisoner Adibawa fought with was reportedly staying in a cell adjacent to him and was incarcerated over an abuse case. 

Sudjonggo told Tribun on Monday that Adibawa had already been returned back to Kerobokan. 

When asked if this was a fight between members of two different gangs, Sudjonggo said it was not and that the incident was resolved peacefully. 

The prison governor also added that after the fight, corrections officers made a fresh sweep in the prison to check for dangerous objects. You know, fun items like screwdrivers, scissors, etc.
