An athlete from Bangli, Bali reportedly died on Tuesday when competing at the Bali Provincial Sports Week (Porpov) XII in Singaraja, Buleleng.
I Wayan Agus Widiantara, 27, died on the way to the emergency room of Buleleng Public Hospital, reports Juara.net.
Widiantara had been competing in the 90-100 kilogram division in judo against I Gede Sandy Juniarta, 26, when at one point he failed to get up when the ref called the competitors to their respective sides of the mat.
When the ref checked Widantara, he appeared to be unconscious. The medical team rushed to take him to the hospital, but he stopped breathing on his way to the hospital and attempts to resuscitate the young man were reportedly unsuccessful.
