Jogging track planned for Bali’s Lovina Beach

Plans are in the works to put a paved jogging track along north Bali’s Lovina Beach.

Kalibukbuk Village customary elder, Ketut Suka, said the path would stretch 1.5 kilometers from the dolphin sculpture in Binaria Square, eastwards to Banyualit Village.

According to Suka, the jogging track has been a long time coming, because of the growing demand from foreign tourists, many of whom are elderly and would do well with a leisurely stroll enjoying the coastal scenery.

Suka says the track wouldn’t be overly large, so vehicles couldn’t take it over.

“We don’t want it too wide, just enough so pedestrians can pass, no motorbikes,” Suka told Tribun Bali on Thursday.

Construction for the path is supposed to begin in early 2017, while financing should come from CSR funds of local Lovina hotels, restaurants, and other neighborhood businesses, says Suka.

“We have submitted a proposal to the Department of Tourism and they’ve already promised it for 2017. Hopefully it can be realized. The department has already sent a survey team in,” he concluded.
