Jewelry thieves sentenced to 22 months in prison

Two jewelry thieves who were caught stealing gold and gemstone jewelry worth up to Rp 1.5 billion were reportedly sentenced to 22 months in prison.

In their trial in Denpasar District Court on Wednesday, they actually made off with lighter sentences than the 26 months that the prosecution demanded.

The judge cited the leniency was due to the thieves being forthright about their crime, according to Antara Bali.

The two perps were identified in Antara Bali’s report as 35-year-old Ayu Suryadiani and 29-year-old Wulansari.
