A local resident in Jembrana, West Bali reportedly died after getting electrocuted on Tuesday.

The man, S, 37, had been trying to retrieve a kite near his home in Cupel Village.

The victim’s nephew heard him screaming and rushed to the source of the sound, to find his uncle’s hand raised and his body motionless—S had apparently been electrocuted with his hand still holding the power cable.

The nephew rushed his uncle to the nearest medical clinic, but it was too late, according to reports.

Jembrana Police’s Criminal Investigation Chief Insp. Yusak Agistinus Sooai confirmed the incident and told local reporters that police immediately went to the scene to investigate.

“The power cable was connected from a kindergarten to another resident’s house. When the victim grabbed it, he was shocked and died immediately,” Sooai told Tribun Bali.
