The feisty tomcat insects also known as rove beetles are apparently showing Kaliakah villagers in Jembrana no mercy.
The little insects don’t look like much more than your average ant but they are infamous for leaving behind itchy AF burning blisters from their venom on their victims that take quite some time to heal.
Information gathered by Antara Bali suggests the “attack” started about one week ago, especially in Dusun Peh.
“At first people did not the itching and blisters were from tomcats, because when they would go to the Negara Polyclinic Hospital, they would just say it was allergies,” local resident I Komang told Anatra on Friday.
Because their blisters were not going away and many other local residents were affected by similar symptoms, Komang says some people even sought help from the paranormal—though they were unsuccessful healing themselves.
According to Komang, villagers eventually realized it was tomcats that were afflicting them thanks to some Google searches. Residents then found tomcats all over their comes, including in their beds, leading them to a mass extermination.
Meanwhile, the Jembrana Head of Agriculture and Farming, Ketut Wiratma, confirmed the tomcat infestation to Antara Bali and says he’s sent men to the area to check out the insect attack.
