The internet connection totally went dead at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport on Thursday afternoon.
The wifi reportedly cut out around 1:40 pm, forcing airlines to manually check in passengers for flights.
The Bali airport’s General Manager Trikora Harjo explained that the blackout in wifi service was happening both in Bali and East Java.
Surabaya’s Juanda Airport had also reportedly been suffering from the same technological issues.
“All check-in counters were put on manual systems while the connection was dead,” Harjo explained to Tribun Bali on Thursday afternoon.
As you can imagine, this has been tricky for people buying tickets online today, as airlines can’t exactly update their data without an internet connection.
However, we can at least rest assured that Ngurah Rai’s cut out internet was not affecting the performance of Air Navigation (AirNav) officers. The general manager of AirNav Denpasar, Maskon Humawan says the situation was under control.
“The AirNav system is undisturbed and still works normally,” Humawan told Tribun. “AirNav is safe, even if the internet connection at the airport is totally dead.”
The latest update from Tribun reports that the wifi made it bak on at about 3:20 pm this afternoon.
