Inmate with life sentence attempts suicide in Bali prison

A Malaysian man locked up in Denpasar could apparently not handle his life sentence, as he reportedly tried to take his life.

Denpasar Class II A Prison inmate Gwan Boo Teik, is currently recovering in Denpasar’s Sanglah Hospital, reports Tribun Bali

“He had attempted suicide, he was found to have been lying unconscious by his fellow prisoners,” a prison officer told Tribun Bali.

The newspaper did not report however, just how exactly Teik attempted to end his own life.

The 43-year-old Malaysian was arrested at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport on January 20, 2010 and later convicted for attempting to smuggle 2.2 kilograms of meth into Bali.

His current condition is reportedly very weak with limited awareness of what is going on.
