The traffic situation’s already pretty dire on the Denpasar-Singaraja route, especially during a long weekend, but now it’s made even crazier by a visit from Indonesia’s vice president.
Personnel from Bali Police and Military Police have reportedly been sweeping the area of famed tourist attraction Eka Karya Botanic Garden since early on Wednesday morning.
Vice President Yusuf Kalla is planning to stay at Ethno Botanical Resort Bedugul.
Baturiti Police Chief Heri Supriawan says traffic from Denpasar to Bedugul is currently stalled, thanks to tightened security for the visit as well as the increased holiday-goers during the long weekend.
“Traffic is jammed, the vice president is scheduled to arrive in Bedugul between 3-4 pm,” Supriawan told Tribun Bali on Thursday afternoon.
Aggravating the chock-a-block situation even further is a bus that got a flat tire around Pacung, Baturiti, the police chief said.
“There was a bus that had a tire burst, worsening the congestion, but it’s been fixed,” he said.
VP Kalla is scheduled to stay in Bali for the whole long weekend, all the way until Sunday. Tomorrow, Friday prayers at Al Hidayah Mosque, Candikuning is on his itinerary. Following that he will go to The Sila’s Agrotourism site. While on Saturday he will visit the Bali Provincial Animal Health and Husbandry Department, Desa Sukasada, Buleleng, as well as Bali Handara Golf Club.
