A man was reportedly arrested in Bali for jipping unsuspecting people trying to purchase packages to go on the Islamic pilgrimages Hajj and Umrah to Mecca.
Identified as GIP in Tribun Bali’s report, the 36-year-old was sentenced to eight years in prison for fraud, after taking money from as many as five victims, amounting to an estimated Rp 200 million.
“When we caught the perpetrator, there was no resistance,” police investigator Pande Sugiarta told Tribun.
GIP was reportedly arrested in Mataram while celebrating Idul Fitri.
