The upcoming Indonesia Badminton Festival in Nusa Dua, Bali will be held without live spectators due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, organizers have confirmed, with all delegations confined to a bubble system during the entire tournament.

The festival, which will take place from Nov. 16 to Dec. 5, comprises three different events, starting with the 2021 Indonesia Master, 2021 Indonesia Open, and closing with the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals in December.

The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) said that delegations participating in the festival will have to remain in the bubble, located at the Westin Resort in Nusa Dua, for as long as the tournament goes on.

“Due to the situation with the pandemic, the Indonesia Badminton Festival will be held without a live audience,” PBSI said.

Hundreds of police officers are still being deployed for the upcoming event, as confirmed by Bali Police Chief Putu Jayan Danu Putra, who said authorities will pay attention to health protocols aside from general security.
