Australia yanked its ambassador to Indonesia following the execution of the Bali Nine pair at the end of the last month.

But it’s not like the move was permanent, and it was really just a gesture, says Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla, who puts Ambassador Paul Grigson back in Indonesia in one month.

“This is normal in diplomatic relations, that if you are not happy you can ask your ambassador back,” he said, as quoted by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation

“In one month they will be sent back to Jakarta.”

However, Australia’s federal government has reportedly said it could not put a timeframe on when Grigson will return, because the gravity of the recall should not be underestimated.

The Abbott administration strongly protested the execution of convicted Australian citizens Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan, up until their deaths on April 29, 2015.
