Indictment is almost ready to go for Engeline’s alleged killer, says Denpasar chief prosecutor

It will not be too long before the indictment of Agustay Hamda May is complete, says Imanuel Zabua, Denpasar chief prosecutor.

For months, the finger has been pointed at Agus for the blame of eight-year-old girl Engeline’s mysterious murder in Bali. Engeline was reported missing from her adoptive family in May, but was then found just weeks later, buried in their backyard on June 10.

It’s in the final stages of editing, but once Agus’ indictment is finished it will be transferred to the district court, Zabua told Antara Bali on Monday.

In addition to Agus, Engeline’s adoptive mother Margriet Megawe was also named a suspect in the girl’s murder.

“We do no yet know whether Margriet’s indictment is ready or not. However, we wish to send them (the two files) simultaneously to trial,” Zabua said.

The files and evidence in Engeline’s murder case were previously sent to the Denpasar public prosecutor’s office on September 7.

We’re sure Agus is hoping proceedings will get going and speed up, as things have not exactly been a picnic for him during his detainment in Kerobokan Prison
