Indian woman apprehended for stealing laptop bag worth US$500 at Bali airport

Police officers at Bali airport apprehended a middle-aged Indian woman last week for stealing a laptop bag valued at IDR8 million (US$532).

Rionson Ritonga, the Chief of the Crime Unit at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Police, stated yesterday that an employee from a store noticed the disappearance of the laptop bag that was on display last Wednesday at around 11:30 am.

CCTV footage confirmed that an unidentified woman took the laptop bag without being noticed by any of the storekeepers.

Local news outlets reported that two hours after the incident, a 44-year-old Indian woman, identified by her initials KSA, was apprehended in the departure area of the airport.

If proven guilty of theft by a court, KSA could face up to five years in prison under Indonesian law.
