Identity of dead foreigner found washed up at Kuta Beach remains a mystery

The body of a foreign national was found floating in the water off Bali’s famous Kuta Beach on Monday afternoon. No, this is not to be confused with the policeman found killed on the same beach last Wednesday.

The identify of the foreigner, who appears to have drowned, remains a mystery, even since the body was taken to Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar for further examination.

Head of Sanglah Hospital’s Forensics Department, Dr. Dudut Rustyadi, described the deceased man as having white skin, a weight of 71.5 kilograms, and a height of 176 centimenters.

A post-mortem exam revealed abrasions on the back of the man’s heads and signs that he had been submerged in water.

Rustyadi estimates the man died about two to eight hours before his body was examined.

“On the beach, just a towel belonging to the victim was found with no identification,” Water Police Commissioner Ketut Suparta told Tribun Bali on Tuesday.

Suparata said the body was found by a tourist swimming in the ocean. The body was initially evacuated to Siloam Hospital on Sunset Road before being sent to the mortuary at Sanglah.

The morgue is still waiting for family members to come forward.
