Hundreds of sea turtle hatchlings released into the wild in Bali

Hundreds of seaturtle hatchlings were released into the wild yesterday and over the weekend in Bali.

At Perancak beach, Jembrana, Regency head I Putu Artha and his wife Ni Kade Ari Sugianti facilitated the freedom of 650 hatchlings on Monday, while in Kuta, many tourists looked on as 47 hatchlings began their swim into the big wide sea this past Saturday.

Artha told Tribun Bali that local government strongly supports the existence of conservation groups.

“In addition to the benefits of conservation, this activity has the potential to attract more tourists,” he concluded.

Kuta onlookers would probably agree—many of them eagerly waited for the hatchlings’s release with cellphones in hand, ultimate proof that turtle conservation is a tourist-worthy attraction.

Lauren, a tourist from Madura, told Tribun Bali that this is the first time she witnessed these hatchlings being released.

“I usually just go to the beach to watch the sunset,” she admitted.
