A couple in Bali is in the center of a religious scandal in the predominantly Hindu island after they were caught on tape getting busy at a temple.

On Wednesday evening, the Rambut Siwi Temple in Getasan Village, Badung Regency hosted a traditional show for locals in the area, which was filmed and posted online.

During a comedy skit, one clip from the event caught a man and a woman getting frisky in the audience, but were discreet enough not to draw the attention from any one of the hundreds in attendance.

The act, which is considered sacrilegious for a place of worship, has drawn the ire of the local Hindu community.

However, the perpetrators have yet to be identified.

“We were looking into who the people in the video were, but nobody knows them. They are probably from outside of the village,” Getasan Village Leader I Gusti Ngurah Ketut Dharma Adnyana said yesterday.

Should the couple be identified and caught, they may face social sanctions as determined by village traditions.
