A lecturer at the Health Science College (STIKES) in Buleleng has been arrested on suspicion of having sexually harassed a female student, a police officer confirmed.

Buleleng Police Chief Picha Armedi told reporters yesterday that PPA, 33, was suspected of having attempted to rape D, 22, on May 5 at her kost (boarding house) in Keluar Banyuning.

A clip of the attempted rape went viral.

“The evidence that we have collected has been enough to name him a suspect,” Picha said, adding that PPA is currently detained at the Buleleng Police headquarters.

The video shows D, sitting just outside her room, being forcefully pulled inside by PPA. She reportedly managed to take a picture of the lecturer and asked the kost owner for CCTV footage.

It has been reported that D initially wrote on her WhatsApp status about a personal struggle, prompting PPA to offer help. Due to his good reputation as an attentive lecturer, D sent him her location via the messaging app without any suspicion.

Separately, Buleleng STIKES Head I Made Sundayana confirmed that PPA has been fired effective immediately
