Guests fined IDR4 million for sullying bed sheets at Hard Rock Hotel Bali (Video)

No one likes being asked to pay any sort of fine, and recent guests at Hard Rock Hotel Bali took their complaints to TikTok after allegedly being told they had to pay IDR4 million for leaving stains on their bed sheets.

The viral clip showed the couple behind the camera complaining about the fine they had to pay upon checking out, with a big caption written across the screen that says: “Stayed for IDR1 million a night at Hard Rock Hotel, fined almost IDR5 million for dirtying the bed sheet.”

At the time of writing, the TikTok video has been viewed over 3.5 million times, with nearly 24,000 comments. It’s worth noting that the bill displayed toward the end of the video actually showed that the amount they had to pay was around 4.2 million, and not 5 million as the user wrote in the caption.

About a day after the post went viral on the video-sharing platform, however, the hotel in question has offered their side of the story. It claimed that the “damage” was caused by temporary tattoo ink that “permanently stained” not only the bed sheets, but also the duvet cover, the inner duvet, and even the bath mat.

“Because of that, we have to implement our policy on goods damaged by hotel guests. Thank you for your attention,” Hard Rock Hotel Bali wrote in a statement uploaded to their Instagram page today.

While hotels undoubtedly have to deal with stained bed sheets all the time, some are indeed more stubborn than others. Likewise, while many of us have had to deal with shitty hotels and their equally annoying management, cases like this serve as a reminder that guests aren’t necessarily always right, either.
