Giving it another go: British gran drug mule on death row is fighting for her life

The British grandmother on Indonesian death row is fighting the fight to stay alive, as reports say she’s lodged a new “mystery” appeal to avoid the firing squad.

Lindsay Sandiford’s legal team has got some cryptic “new evidence” that may offer her reprieve, reports the Daily Mail

As much as we’re itching to know what this “new evidence” is, her lawyers are keeping it under wraps at the moment.

“I am not able to reveal what the fresh evidence is, but we are hopeful this will result in a lesser sentence.

“Lindsay is holding up but it is not happy thing to know that you are in line to be executed. She is a victim in all this,” lawyer Chris Harno told MailOnline.

The 58-year-old has been in jail since 2012, when she was caught carrying GBP1.6 million worth of drugs from Thailand to Bali.

An ongoing appeal is reportedly what kept her from being killed in either of the two previous rounds of Indonesian executions earlier this year.

Previous reports have said Sandiford’s attorneys are trying to argue she was a “trafficked” person who was manipulated, and if that is the ruling, then she cannot be executed under international law.

Could we have another Mary Jane situation on our hands? We’ll just have to wait and see where Sandiford’s case goes in the coming weeks.
