Suwat Village in Gianyar, Bali has reportedly not had any running water from taps for three days.
This has consequently pushed local residents to take their water from a river.
The community fears a prolonged drought and this is apparently not the first time its been faced with such water shortages, according to Tribun Bali.
Suwat Village has suffered a drought in the past that was as long as one month, the newspaper reports—at that time there were apparently places the pipes were broken.
I Made Suarka of PDAM Ginayar reportedly revealed that there is a leak in a PDAM pipe in the Sumita Village area, which has affected the pump in Melayang Village.
“That is why people are starting to drill wells… The (PDAM) water only flows at night, and sometimes there’s not water at all,” Suwat villager Ngakan Made Astawa complained.
Astawa additionally urges authorities to work this out quickly, adding that society is the victim, as it fulfills its obligations of paying for the water every month.
Suarka says PDAM is working on it and has already made improvements.
