Gianyar man wanted for alleged vandalism and death threats collapses on the floor crying when apprehended by police

It would be an understatement to say Gusti Ngurah Agung Dharma, commonly called Ngurah Merkak, 30, did not take his arrest with grace on Saturday.

The Gianyar man was arrested for alleged vandalism and death threats, but he wasn’t such a tough guy when he cried for mercy as the police came after him, Gianyar Polres Insp. I Gusti Ngurah Winangun told Tribun Bali

Based on reports, Merkak had pursued a person identified as Paidi and had been trying to bang down Paidi’s bedroom door, while wielding some sort of sharp weapon at 2:30 am. Merkak then allegedly broke down the door, and attempted to break the glass window, TV, desk, and motorbike. At that point Paidi realized Merkak had a weapon, so the victim took off running as Merkak was allegedly shouting “I will kill you!” reports said. From there, Paidi was apparently able to call the police before Merkak caught him.

What was all this even about?

“It was regarding a deposit for ogoh-ogoh the other day. The perp did not get the deposit,” Winangun explained. So of course, it was about money.

Merkak is facing charges carrying a max penalty of two years behind bars for the incident, police said.
