Get Ready: Kuta traffic flow changes announced for Feb. 1

Kuta traffic is about to get a major change-up.

The experiment introducing major traffic flow changes that police have designed for Kuta will start on Wednesday, Feb. 1, says Denpasar Police Commissioner Hadi Purnomo.

You’d better watch out, because some two-way roads will become one-ways and some one-ways may change their directional flow.

First thing in the morning, around 6 am, Denpasar Traffic Police, the Badung Department of Transportation, and pecalang will make moves to implement the flow changes, including changing up signs.

Purnomo is insistent that then changes are experimental and right now are only scheduled to run until March.

Be warned, violators of the new traffic flow system will be prosecuted, says Purnomo.

“For approximately one month (the operation) will be tested and every weekend there will be an evaluation,” Tribun Bali quoted Purnomo as saying.

Here are the changes, as published by Tribun:

-Jl. Dewi Sartika, Jl. Raya Kuta, Jl Patih Jelantik, and Jl. Majapahit will change from two-way streets to one-ways
-Jl. Dewi Sartika will flow south to north
-Jl. Raya Kuta will flow north to south
-Jl. Patih Jelantik will flow west to east
-Jl. Majapahit will flow south to north
-On Jl. Legian, the stretch from north to south will switch from south to north, starting from the intersection north of Jl. Melasti
