Gas prices went up again in Bali over the weekend

To motorists’ dismay government raised fuel prices in Bali again starting on Saturday at midnight.

Let’s just say we’re really hoping to see some pizazz in the economy soon to make our extra pennies (small rupiah coins) worthwhile.

Prices went up Rp 500 per litter for premium petrol and diesel while kerosene prices remained unchanged. That puts the nice price of gasoline at Rp 7,300/liter and Rp 6,900/liter for diesel.

“The increase by Rp 500 per liter applies to Java, Madura, and Bali,” said the business and marketing director of PT Pertamina, Ahmad Bambang on Friday in Jakarta, as quoted by Tribun Bali

According to the acting director general of oil and gas at the Ministry of Energy, I Gusti Ngurah Wiratmaja Puja, the government raised fuel prices after considering the dynamics of the cutting-edge world oil prices and the condition of the national economy.

Since Joko Widodo started serving as president in November 2014, this is the fourth time we have seen a change in gas prices, according to Tribun Bali, with the only reduction being on January 1, 2015.

Back in November, Jokowi controversially issues a presidential decree that the price of fuel will be adjusted accordingly with world oil prices aka no longer subsidized.

If you think about it, it’s been a rough month for the rupiah against the US dollar, so it’s not exactly a shock that fuel prices had to change.
