A powerful blast from a gas explosion in an Ubud, Bali cafe reportedly resulted in the injury of six people.
The gas explosion occurred at The Legend Cafe on Jl. Raya Ubud on Sunday when an employee was trying to install a 12 kilogram gas tube around 1 pm, reports Tribun Bali.
Gas quickly spurted out into the whole room, with a pungent scent, Ubud Police Chief Wayan Sumara told Tribun.
Concerned, other employees came in and tried to take out the gas tube, but they were apparently unsuccessful as gas continued to leak out. They then checked the kitchen to turn off any open flames from stoves, reports say.
However, just 15 minutes later, flames spurted out of nowhere, and a moment later, the flames triggered an explosion in the cafe, burning six employees.
Four were rushed to Sanglah Hospital in Ubud for treatment of severe burns.
