Garuda launches Guangzhou-Denpasar direct flight

The Chinese are coming.

Adding another route from Bali, Garuda is opening new flights from Denpasar to Guangzhou.

The first flight kicked off Nov. 22 with a Boeing 737-800 departing from Denpasar.

The service from Denpasar will run three times a week and is currently scheduled for Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while the return flight from Guangzhou back to Bali will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

“These Denpasar-Guangzhou flights are a development of Garuda Indonesia’s strategy to expand into the Chinese market, which has previously opened direct flights from Jakarta to Guangzhou, Jakarta-Beijing, Jakarta-Shanghai, and Denpasar-Beijing,” said the general manager of Garuda Indonesia’s Bali branch, Syamsuddin Jusuf Souib, as quoted by Antara

Syamsuddin further explained that Garuda is preparing to get a stronger foothold in the Chinese market, saying the country’s big population leaves much room for big potential tourist numbers.

“Guangzhou is one of the busiest cities in China. The city is the third largest and has the highest income in the country of bamboo, behind Beijing and Shanghai.”
