Garbage truck fleet granted to Badung to handle trash pileup

Christmas is coming a little early for some villages in Badung, Bali. Due to garbage problems in the area, four villages will get serviced with a dump truck, says the Badung government—when the government in Bali is saying there’s a problem with trash and they are doing something about it, well then you know you’ve got a big trash problem on your hands.

“The provision of four units of dump trucks is a concern and the seriousness of the government in dealing with trash,” said Regent of Badung, Anak Agung Gde Agung, as quoted by the Bali Times

The four villages reportedly getting garbage truck service are Kuta, Kedonganan, Kelan, and Kutuh. Agung also reportedly said the trucks won’t just go to these four villages, but will also be gradually granted to other local villages to get the trash moving on out, according to the Bali Times.

However, just because the government’s doing something about the waste problem, doesn’t mean it is about to take full blame: “Health, beauty and order environment can not only rely on the government, but it is a shared responsibility,” Agung said.

“Participation in the form of rules such as prohibition of throwing garbage randomly, prohibition of disposing cigarette butts carelessly or other prohibition rules,” he said.
