Fugitive from gang clash outside Kerobokan Prison finally arrested

Denpasar Police have finally arrested a man who allegedly fled Bali, suspected of perpetrating violence in the explosive clashes between rival gangs back in December.

Erupting at first from inside Kerobokan Prison, the clash on December 17, 2015 was between organizations Baladika and Laskar Bali.

The suspect, identified as IGAGA, 27, was arrested on Wednesday evening, around 10:40 pm in Banyuwangi, East Java.

Denpasar Police Criminal Unit Chief Reinhard Habonaran Nainggolan said the suspect is a member of Laskar Bali and is believed to have stabbed a Baladika member to death.

The suspect, who has been on Denpasar Police’s wanted list since December, was arrested without resistance, according to Nainggolan.

“We were able to catch the perpetrator in cooperation with Surabaya and Banyuwangi Police,” he explained on Thursday, as quoted by Sindo News

The man could face charges that carry a maximum penalty of 15 years, reports say.
