Former Jembrana, Bali council member allegedly caught with meth

Giving “dirty politician” a double meaning, a former Jembrana parliament member was allegedly caught with meth in a car in Jembrana, Bali on Saturday.

The politician was not named, only identified by the initials NYW in a report by Tribun Bali.

Jembrana Police chief adjunct senior commissioner, Hary Hariadi confirmed the arrest was in line with an operation in the Jl. Panglima Sudirman, Negara area.

It was while checking NYW’s Mercedes Benz that police reportedly found drug paraphernalia, along with some substance that is allegedly meth—Hariadi says police are testing it in the lab to confirm it’s actually sabu

“We are currently further investigating this case. We have three days to collect evidence and obtain the testimony of witnesses before the case to raise the level of investigation,” he said, as quoted by Tribun.

The former Jembrana politician reportedly served on the Jembrana regional council for two terms, from 2004-2009 and 2009-2014.
