Flight crews subject to drug tests in Bali

The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Bali Province is scheduling periodic drug tests for flight crews, both national and international, that touch down on the island.

But they’re clearly telling everybody about it, so it’s not really going to be a shocker to crew who may have secrets to hide.

“It is the duty, the responsibility, and authority of BNN to do the urine tests,” Head of BNN Bali, Putu Gede Suastawa said on Monday, as quoted by Tribun Bali

According to Suastawa, the urine tests are valued by the airlines, since many airlines do not have such testing tools at their disposal.

He said the testing will be done periodically, but also can be randomly.

Up to this point, there has not yet been any flight crew in Bali who has tested positive for drugs, Suastawa added.

Based on BNN Bali records, the amount of drug cases in the area jumped up by 22.57 percent, compared with 2014.
