A massive fire engulfed a boarding house — locally known as kost — in Badung regency yesterday evening, reportedly ravaging 19 rooms in the building.
According to reports, the fire took place at around 8pm and took about two hours to be put out. Access to the kost was only through a small alley, and firemen reportedly had difficulties getting to the location.
“For now we suspect it might be an electric short circuit, but we’re still looking into it. There were no casualties … but we’re still checking if anyone was injured,” Wayan Wirya from the Badung Fire Department told Tribun.
A number of videos posted on Instagram show the extent of the fire, which appears to have destroyed the entire building.

Last month, a massive fire also destroyed Bintang Supermarket in Seminyak in the middle of the night, along with a number of stores and kiosks located in the area.
