Family of woman murdered in Bali suitcase killing worries about Kerobokan Prison baby Stella

The eight-month-old baby of a young American couple convicted for the Bali suitcase murder, still lives in Kerobokan Prison with her inmate mother.

The siblings of the murdered Sheila von Wiese-Mack, the woman found stuffed into a suitcase in Bali, say they worry about baby Stella who is the daughter of Wiese-Mack’s convicted killers, Heather Mack and Tommy Schaefer.

“I would love for Stella to have a happy childhood and be with a family that loves her and I think prison is not a place for a baby, a toddler,” said Debbie Curran, von Wiese-Mack’s sister, as quoted by American network NBC 5.

While the brother, Bill Wiese, spoke on his family’s difficulty seeing Mack actually looking happy, or smiling at least, in some Instagram photos, according to NBC 5.

“I really see just a lack of remorse,” Wiese said. “It seems like it’s a party over there and there’s no remorse at all.”

Under Indonesian law, Mack can keep her baby with her in Kerobokan for up to two years.

Von Wiese-Mack’s family says they are willing to financially help Stella, while a Chicago area judge is working with an aid group to help Mack cover food and doctor’s visits for Stella.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of unease about baby Stella from the convict couple’s family—Schaefer’s mother additionally previously talked about a desire to get the baby out of prison/out of Indonesia entirely and of concerns that Mack was going to sell the baby.
