The family of Robert Ellis, 60, is not impressed with how local authorities are conducting the investigation of Ellis’ grisly murder.
For one, the family says they weren’t informed. They apparently had to find out about Ellis’ death on the internet.
Kelvin Ellis, the victim’s son from a previous relationship, just came to Bali himself but hasn’t been successful in learning much more about his father’s death.
“I got to Bali to find out that the accused has been given access to the crime scene a number of times, even after confessing. This isn’t the right way to do things. It isn’t being handled in a professional or just way,” said Kelvin Ellis.
The victim also had two other sons, Peter and John, with wife Julaikah Noor Aini, aka Noor Ellis. Noor Ellis allegedly ordered the hit on her husband, spending more than AUD14,000 to hire up to eight to people to murder him last week. Ellis’ body was found in a rice field with the throat slashed.
“Our focus right now is on laying Dad to rest and supporting Peter and John, who have lost so much in this tragedy, but the family is united in seeking justice. Right now we are concerned that we won’t get it,” Kelvin Ellis said.
“We’re asking MFAT and the government to get involved on behalf the New Zealand relatives to ask the Indonesian government to make sure a proper investigation is conducted.”
Robert Ellis’ remains were reportedly sent to New Zealand from Bali on Monday. The burial should be sometime this week.
