Allegedly desperate because of persistent hypertension and ulcer disease, a 70-year-old Balinese man reportedly took his own life earlier this morning.
I Nyoman Geder, a resident of Gumbrih Village, Jembrana, Bali was first found around 8:55 am this morning by his son, Ni Luh Tama, 50, reports Tribun Bali.
Local police Ngurah Putu Riasa told Tribun that no signs of violence were found on Geder’s body, so officials suspect that the elderly man killed himself over his frustrations with his debilitating disease.
Geder was discovered hanging from the ceiling in his room with a chair underneath, Riasa says.
Geder’s death is in line with an apparent trend of hanging by suicide this year in Bali, with an astounding amount of cases being reported just in Denpasar’s Sanglah Hospital alone.
